How TikTok Shop fees work (2026)

TikTok Shop charges a referral (commission) fee on each order: about 6% for most categories and about 5% for select jewelry, with payment processing included. New sellers pay a reduced 3% for their first 30 days. If you sell through a creator affiliate, the commission you set is paid on top of the referral fee, so it pays to model both before you price a product.

Your true profit also depends on costs the platform does not charge: what the item costs you, the shipping you cover, ad spend, and returns. This calculator subtracts all of them so the net profit and margin reflect reality, not just the headline fee.

TikTok vs Etsy vs Amazon vs Shopify fees

The four platforms charge structurally different costs, so the same product can net very different amounts on each:

  • TikTok Shop: about 6% referral (5% jewelry, 3% new seller), payment included.
  • Etsy: about 6.5% transaction fee on item plus shipping, a $0.20 listing fee per item, and payment processing of about 3% plus $0.25.
  • Amazon: a referral fee of roughly 8 to 15% by category plus per-unit fulfillment. FBA size and weight tiers are not modeled here.
  • Shopify: no marketplace commission, only payment processing of about 2.9% plus $0.30, but you pay a monthly subscription and drive your own traffic, so no commission does not mean free customers.

The comparison panel above runs your exact numbers through each platform and highlights the best, with a caveat on every row so you can read it honestly.

Frequently asked questions

How much does TikTok Shop take in fees?
TikTok Shop charges a referral (commission) fee of about 6% of the order value for most categories in the US, and about 5% for select jewelry. Payment processing is included, so there is no separate US transaction fee. New sellers pay a reduced 3% for their first 30 days.
What is the TikTok Shop new seller fee?
New sellers get a promotional 3% referral fee for the first 30 days after onboarding, instead of the standard rate. Toggle the new-seller option in the calculator to apply it.
Does the affiliate commission stack on top of the referral fee?
Yes. If you sell through a TikTok creator affiliate, the commission you set (often 5 to 20%) is paid in addition to the referral fee. The calculator subtracts both when you enable the affiliate option.
How is net profit calculated?
Net profit per unit is your sell price minus all platform fees (referral plus any affiliate commission) minus your costs (item cost, shipping you pay, ad spend, and any other cost). Margin is net profit divided by the sell price.
Is TikTok Shop cheaper than Etsy, Amazon, or Shopify?
It depends on the product. TikTok Shop and Etsy charge a marketplace commission, Amazon charges a referral fee plus fulfillment, and Shopify charges no commission but you pay a subscription and drive your own traffic. The comparison panel shows the net profit for the same product on each so you can decide.
Are these fee numbers exact?
They are the published headline rates as of the date shown on the page. Fees change and some costs (Etsy Offsite Ads, Amazon FBA tiers, Shopify subscription) are not modeled. Always verify against each platform before making a decision.
